Although many consider Memorial Day as the official kickoff to summer and celebrate with a day of grilling with friends and family, this national holiday was created to honor the sacrifice of America’s fallen soldiers.
Morrill Worcester was 12 years old when he made a trip to Washington, D.C. for the first time. His visit to Arlington National Cemetery left an impression that he would never forget. Later in his life, the former newspaper boy went on to become the owner of Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington, Maine, and the founder of Wreaths Across America.
May is an important month for Veterans. Not only does the nation reflect of the sacrifices of the fallen on Memorial Day, but Armed Forces Week is celebrated this month. Armed Forces Week leads up to Armed Forces Day. This year Armed Forces Week is May 11-18, with Armed Forces Day falling on May 16.
